Aftercare Guidelines

Proper aftercare of your tattoo is essential to the healing process. It's up to youhow well you are willing to take care of your new tattoo! Keep in mind, a tattoois an open wound, therefore it is essential to keep it clean at all times.

  • Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo.

  • Keep your tattoo protective film on for the period of time recommended by your tattoo artist.

  • You might see leaking liquids. Don't be scared or grossed out by this, as this is normal and expected. The liquid is a mixture of plasma, blood, and the extra ink that is inadvertently in our skin!

  • After the recommended period, gently remove the film and wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and a small amount of unscented ph-neutral soap using your fingers only - be firm, but gentle. No excessive rubbing or exfoloating! Pat dry with kitchen towel. (Recommended soaps: Sanex 0% | Aveeno | Simple)

  • Apply a very thin layer of tattoo aftercare cream. Do not apply excessive cream (we recommend a pea-sized amount) as the scab will become thick, and you will suffocate the wound. Keep it clean, dry and moisturised! (Recommended creams: E45 | Unscented Cocoa Butter | Coconut Oil | Aveeno)

  • We recommend gently washing and creaming the tattoo daily to remove excess fluids and avoid dry skin.

  • After the first week, you may notice your tattoo slightly scab or flake, and become itchy. DO NOT pick your scab or itch the area, which is very important! Picking a scab will also pull colour out, expose the tattoo to infection and can result in permanent scars.

Things to avoid during the healing process:

  • Touching/itching the tattooed skin area. It will get very itchy!

  • Submerging the area of your tattooed skin in water for at least 4-6 weeks (baths, swimming, sauna, steamroom) Showers are okay!

  • Wearing clothing that may cause excessive rubbing to the area.

  • Exposure to the sun, especially in the first month. Always apply suitable suncream.

  • Fragranced soap/creams.
